Who we are

Marafiki Community International is a Kenyan, non-profit organisation, born out of the dream of a sustainable Kenya. We believe that it is time for our people to claim their dignity and be empowered to become self-sustainable.

Volunteer in Kenya

It’s a big vision, a big dream that we are working towards with the help of international volunteers who come to Kenya to offer their knowledge in different areas. Our volunteers always go home with the feeling of having received more than they gave, but their impact can be seen in all the schools, children homes, shelters and hospitals that we work with, as well as our own projects.

Their hard work combined with the dedication of our people and mutual knowledge sharing is what builds strong people. Strong people build strong communities and provide the way for future generations.

“Marafiki Community International was born out of a need no else could fulfil, the school at SIDP, 10 years ago. It has grown into a mission that is bigger than me, and anyone else that has ever worked here. It’s a dream come true. ”

— Isaac Mwangi, Founder of Marafiki Community International

  • We have seen 3 classes sit the KCPE exams and graduate into High School.

  • We have hosted over 1,000 volunteers in Nairobi, in Mai Mahiu, Watamu and Maasai Mara.

  • We have built the structures around a water project that currently provides clean water to a population of 5,000 in Maasai Mara.

  • We built Ripoi Primary School, with a current student population of 300, located in the middle of Maasai Mara.
